Let’s face it, working out can be hard. For many of us, a cosy evening on the sofa can be so much more appealing than slogging away at the gym.
We’ve put together some tried and test top tips to make exercise feel that little bit easier and even more effective.
WE CAUGHT UP WITH PERSONAL TRAINER, ALI SILVER, WHO HAS LET US IN ON HER SECRETS ON HOW TO EXERCISE WITH EASE WHILST GAINING MAXIMAL BENEFITS...
According to Ali, a bit of preparation can go a long way. Ali says that by ‘having your kit out and ready, you have one less thing to sort out when you wake up, making getting ready for the gym that little bit easier!’
Ali says that ‘caffeine promotes fat burning and reduces the sensation of fatigue and even muscle pain during your workout, allowing you to squeeze in that extra rep.’
Who would have thought that you could use your brain to make you buff?
Ali says that by ‘picturing your muscles contracting, you can actually induce more muscle activity.’ This is because impulses from the brain are transmitted through the body’s nerves to muscles, and the more muscle fibres that are recruited, the bigger the gains you can achieve.

Listening to your favourite songs will increase your motivation, giving you that nudge to work even harder.
Often the first thing to go when we’re tight for time at the gym, but stretching out your muscles is a must. Stretching reduces muscle fatigue, thus your muscles will recover faster and are primed for your next workout.
Ali says that refuelling post-workout is essential. By replenishing your muscle glycogen stores, you will have more energy during your next workout, making it that little bit easier.
Always include protein and complex carbohydrates - a smoothie with vegan protein powder, oats and almond milk would make a perfect choice.
