Cold-Pressed...Total BS?
It comes in a fancy bottle and *looks* healthy, but what exactly is cold-pressed juice, anyway?
It comes in a fancy bottle and *looks* healthy, but what exactly is cold-pressed juice, anyway?
What's the deal with cold-pressed juice? Is it total BS or is it worth the money? At school your parents would give you a carton of apple juice and you'd feel like you were on a health kick. Fast forward a few decades, and cold-pressed has completely taken over (and so it should!) because we're here to spill the juice on the benefits and why it is actually worth the lil extra money!
Great question! Here's the science-y bit. Cold-pressed juice refers to juice made using a hydraulic press to extract the juice from fruits and vegetables, which is different from the pasteurisation process, which involves high heat.
While the pasteurisation process is what helps kill potentially harmful bacteria in juice, the cold-pressing process gets the most liquid and nutrients out of the produce as possible.
Because no heat or oxygen is used in the cold-pressing process, nutrients do not get lost as they typically would during pasteurisation.
Nope, the way they are processed means ALL of the nutrients remain the same! Our juices packed with dark leafy greens actually have an extra nutritional punch. Our smoothies are naturally high in fibre and are more likely to retain it even after it goes through the cold-pressing process, unlike the normal processing that many juice companies use.
We hope that's cleared things up for you a bit. Include a daily juice alongside a healthy diet, hit the gym regularly or get some sort of daily exercise in and you'll be a health guru in the making.
